I started this blog as a way to keep track of my baking endeavors and other creative experiences in the kitchen. I first saw cake pops being sold at Starbucks and thought, "What a super cute idea!" Little did I know Bakerella was already a well known cake pop pro! Oh well! Anyway, no offense to Starbucks, but I knew I could make my cake pops a little tastier!
My first attempt was for my husband's birthday and I now make them for all sorts of special occasions and have even started to sell them to my colleagues at school!
Oh yea...I'm a high school Spanish teacher and tennis coach BTW. I love to experiment in the kitchen. My love for cooking, no wait, my love for eating started because of my dad. He is an amazing cook who cannot tell you one recipe to save his life. I learned to cook thanks to him and learned how to bake because of my mom.
My husband Billy is my official taste tester. He is beyond supportive of me when I'd rather be cooking or baking at midnight instead of grading papers! I suppose it's because he benefits from it too. Even when I think something turned out not quite as I had intended, he makes sure I feel like I am the next Iron Chef. He is a high school English teacher, coach, handy man extraordinaire, Dave Matthews junkie, and proud Auburn Tiger. Together we love exploring new places around the country and the globe as well as trying all of the wonderful foods we encounter along the way so we can try to recreate them at home!
We live in the Washington DC metro area with Amos & Tinsley who are my 2 sous chefs. They love to stare at me with big sad eyes when I'm rolling little balls of cake, hoping that one day I drop one on the floor.
I hope you enjoy reading about my successes and failures in the kitchen!
I'd love to hear your comments and hope I can inspire creativity in your kitchen too!
